Rockies California League affiliate Lancaster had a comeback fall a little short as they lost 11-9 for the Visalia Rawhide. It wasn’t all bad news, though, since they did manage to score nine runs. Key to that comeback effort was UC-Riverside product Vince Fernandez, who managed to go 2-for-4, including a double and a home run, scoring twice and driving in two more. It was his 17th home run of the year in his 88th game; last year (in the not-quite-as-friendly-but-still-very-helpful hitters’ park in Asheville’s McCormick Field) he hit 16 in 100 games played.
Vince Fernandez was drafted by the Rockies in the 10th round of the 2016 draft with relatively little fanfare.
