Prior to the start of this season, only five Grand Junction Rockies had posted a five-hit game in franchise history. Mendoza has now done it twice in just this season alone, including a 5-for-6 outing in Grand Junction’s 13-10 loss to Idaho Falls on Thursday night. That followed a 5-for-6 night on Tuesday night.
In all, the left-handed-hitting Mendoza started the season 12-for-17 with six RBI. Not a bad way to kick off the season for the Grand Junction second baseman and leadoff hitter.
