Worley hit Arenado on a 1-1 pitch in the top of the fifth inning. Arenado immediately reacted in pain and, after several moments, headed straight to the dugout. He was taken out of the game and replaced by pinch runner Trevor Story, who stayed in the game to play shortstop while Pat Valaika moved over to third to take Arenado’s place.
As Story made his way onto the field to run for Arenado, the All-Star third baseman could be seen grabbing his hat and glove and heading to the Rockies locker room.
Arenado was 0-for-2 on the day before being hit by Worley.
