Nolan Arenado was hit on the left arm by Chicago pitcher Cole Hamels with one out in the third inning on Wednesday. It followed a series of inside pitches that the Cubs have seen from Colorado Rockies pitchers throughout the series, including Kris Bryant being plunked twice by Peter Lambert in Tuesday night’s Colorado win. Additionally, Javier Baez had to duck out of the way of a high pitch from Colorado’s Antonio Senzatela earlier in Wednesday’s matinee.
Arenado stayed in the game in the top of the fourth inning but was replaced by Ryan McMahon at third base when the Rockies came onto the field in the top of the fifth.
