Prior to Saturday’s game against the Miami Marlins at Coors Field, Colorado Rockies right-hander Chad Bettis was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left hip impingement. In a corresponding move, right-hander Chi Chi Gonzalez was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Bettis has struggled mightily in recent games, posting a 9.04 ERA and 1.98 WHIP in his last 15 outings. Used primarily as a reliever for the first time since the 2014 season, the 30-year-old Bettis allowed 21 hits (including four home runs) in 13.1 innings pitched in July.
