The Colorado Rockies (44-77) saw yet another lead waste away as the offense disappeared after the third inning, resulting in a walk-off loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks (68-53) who remain well-positioned in the Wild Card race.
Now 2-7 on the year against Arizona, the Rockies will look to rookie starter Tanner Gordon who has been making strides in his past few starts. Despite being 0-3 with a 6.15 ERA in 26 1⁄3 innings of work, Gordon has steadily shown improvement as a starter including his last start in Colorado where he allowed two runs on six hits with seven strikeouts over five innings against the Atlanta Braves.
