Earlier this afternoon, the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats announced they will have a new manager for the 2018 season. It will be 32 year old Warren Schaeffer.

He will replace Jerry Weinstein, who will still remain in the Rockies organization but it will be in a new capacity. Weinstein has spent time on the Rockies major league coaching staff previously in a few different roles.

Schaeffer’s prior managerial and playing history

In 2018, it will be Schaeffer’s third season of managing as, for the past two seasons, for the Rockies Single-A affiliate, the Asheville Tourists. In those two seasons, he has a 138-139 record, including a postseason appearance in the 2017 season as the Tourists reached the South Atlantic League Championship Series.
