Colorado Rockies Done In By The Long Ball For The Second Night In A Row

The Colorado Rockies gave up a homer to the most unlikely of San Diego Padres’ hitters on Saturday night, and it sealed the game.

A night after allowing three home runs to the San Diego Padres in what’s typically a pitcher-friendly ballpark, the Colorado Rockies allowed two more on Saturday and lost 5-4 thanks to a former Rockie’s untimely long ball.

Clint Barmes hit a two-run shot off Tommy Kahnle in the seventh inning to break a 3-3 tie, and the 5-3 lead was just what the Padres needed to win their fourth straight game — and send the Rockies to their second straight loss starting the second half of the season.
