The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have designated Jason Motte for assignment, meaning he can now be claimed of waivers by other teams in MLB.
If he isn’t claimed the Rockies will likely just release Motte and either way the club appears prepared to eat the rest of his $5 million contract.
Motte pitched 23.2 innings for the Rockies last year, posting a 4.94 ERA.
