Colorado Rockies: Carlos Gonzalez on his first Cactus League game

On Thursday, against the Los Angeles Angels, Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez made his Cactus League debut.

When he first stepped into the batter’s box against Andrew Heaney, who is slated to be in the Angels starting rotation, he was greeted to a standing ovation from Rockies fans at Salt River Field in Talking Stick. In that first at-bat, he had a single and he subsequently scored. Overall, he went 1-for-3 with that single.

After the 10-8 loss to the Angels, Gonzalez spoke the media about his Cactus League debut.

“I didn’t do much — I was trying to concentrate for my at-bat — but that was really nice, the way that people received me,” Gonzalez said.
