Colorado Rockies Can’t Complete Sweep, Drop Close Game To Cardinals

After taking the first two games of the series, the Colorado Rockies went for a sweep against the highly-regarded St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday afternoon.

Carlos Martinez shut out the Colorado Rockies until the seventh inning, and except for one swing of the bat by Ben Paulsen, the Rox couldn’t muster any offense that stuck, losing 4-2 Wednesday afternoon to the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Cardinals started the scoring early, when pitcher Carlos Martinez scored on a single to left field by Matt Carpenter, pushing the Redbirds out to a 1-0 lead off Rockies’ starter Chad Bettis.
