CINCINNATI — The Rockies’ bullpen blew it. Yes, again.
The end result was a gut-punching, 7-5, 13-inning loss to the Reds on Thursday afternoon at Great American Ball Park where the Rockies wasted a chance to sweep the three-game series.
The end came 4 hours, 15 minutes after the game started when Jesse Winker hit a two-run, walk-off homer off Chris Rusin to right field. It was the second walk-off of Winkler’s career.
The game should never have come down to that kind of drama. Colorado squandered a 5-2 lead when left-hander Mike Dunn gave up two runs in eighth and closer Wade Davis imploded in the ninth, sending the game into extra innings.
