Two of those 16 defeats came on Wednesday as the Colorado Rockies offense struggled once again in 3-2 and 2-0 losses at the hands of the Washington Nationals. Those losses follow an 11-1 rout in Washington on Tuesday night, meaning the Rockies have scored three runs in three games while in the nation’s capital.
There was one bright spot for the Colorado offense on Wednesday afternoon and that came in the form of recent acquisition Yonder Alonso. Getting his first start for the Rockies at first base, Alonso went 2-for-3 in the opening game, logging a pair of doubles and scoring both of Colorado’s runs.
