On Friday night, after the Rockies’ 5-2 win over the Nationals that clinched a postseason berth, champagne and beer was uncorked and sprayed all over the Coors Field clubhouse.
But as the players gave interviews while sporting soaked “Defend Rocktober” shirts, the prevailing sentiment was clear: If things go as planned, Friday was only the club’s penultimate celebration in regards to the playoffs.
The real party is to come hopefully sometime after the game on either Saturday or Sunday, the Colorado players said, after officially outpacing the Dodgers to clinch the team’s first National League West title.
