“The Beard” helped make Charlie Blackmon a fan favorite, but it’s his exuberant play on the field that made him one of the Rockies’ most respected players.
Blackmon was recognized for his baseball passion Tuesday when he won the Rockies 2016 Heart and Hustle Award. One player from each team receives the honor, presented by the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA).
“This esteemed award honors active players who demonstrate a passion for the game of baseball and best embody the values, spirit and traditions of the game. The Heart and Hustle Award is also the only award in Major League Baseball that is voted on by former players,” notes a press release from the MLBPAA.
