SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Stuck with an exhibition in the middle of an extended Cactus League schedule at spring training, the Rockies on Thursday made the most of it. A bonanza of offense, led by Charlie Blackmon and three home runs, pushed Colorado to blowout 10-2 victory over Puerto Rico at Salt River Fields.
Puerto Rico was prepping for their appearance in the World Baseball Classic and with a well-known lineup, including San Francisco’s Angel Pagan, St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina and veteran Houston slugger Carlos Beltran.
But the Rockies had little trouble, scoring runs in six of their eight offensive innings.
