Three moments stood out in the Rockies’ much-needed, 7-3 victory over Atlanta on Thursday night at Coors Field in front of an announced crowd of 36,527.
The first is obvious. Carlos Gonzalez broke a scoreless tie in the sixth with a monster three-run homer to right-center off talented, young Braves starter Mike Foltynewicz. Gonzalez drove in Charlie Blackmon, who led off with a walk, and DJ LeMahieu, who singled.
Gonzalez’s homer, his 20th, left his bat at 114 mph and traveled an estimated 459 feet. Gonzalez, as is his custom, admired his blast as he stood close to the launch site.
