And megawatt smiles were the order of the day.
The Rockies’ pitcher has that kind of effect on people, even as he’s stayed home in nearby Scottsdale to battle testicular cancer as he holds out hope he can pitch again this season.
“Wouldn’t that be awesome if he did?” said right-hander Jon Gray, who counts Bettis as his friend and confidant. “He’s the kind of guy who lifts everybody else up.
