Baseball's other trade deadline passed Monday with the Rockies' roster intact — including Carlos Gonzalez. And Colorado's most talented player said he wasn't surprised.
"I knew the possibility existed," Gonzalez, the Rockies right fielder, said. "If I'm here, it's for a reason. I'm just trying to continue playing good baseball. We don't have any control over our future. So I just play the game as long as I have the opportunity."
Gonzalez, who claimed the Rockies' home run lead this season last week at Pittsburgh with his 31st of the season, has streaked through the second half.
