SAN FRANCISCO — Carlos Gonzalez is waging a war on "the wall." The Rockies right fielder is slowly, one swing at a time, trying to rearrange the shift against him.
"They're trying to make it hard on me with that wall on the right side," Gonzalez said. "I hit the ball hard and it's like, 'Ahh, wrong side.' "
His smooth lefty swing, though, is pushing back. CarGo came into Friday's game against the Giants with 14 hits to the opposite field — away from his shift — ranking second in baseball, behind Boston's Dustin Pedroia.
