CarGo hits upper-deck shot for 1,300th career hit

DENVER -- The sound and sight was so familiar ... and so missed. And it was so welcome for a crowd at sun-baked Coors Field on Sunday: Carlos Gonzalez crushing a pitch and taking a few walking steps as the ball flew into the third deck in right field.

Gonzalez's first-inning home run off the Reds' Matt Harvey, which gave the Rockies a 3-1 lead, was his 1,300th career hit. All but the first 31 of those have come in a Rockies uniform, which he is wearing for a 10th season after arriving in a trade with the Athletics.
