Butler loses footing on eventful run around third

DENVER -- Rockies second-year pitcher Eddie Butler had never gotten on base in a Major League game before the fifth inning Friday night. His first time was eventful. But it didn't end well.

With Nick Hundley having tripled in a run to cut the Reds' lead to 3-2, Butler bunted to pitcher Anthony DeSclafani, who flipped the ball to the plate. But Hundley didn't run, so Butler ended up with his first hit, then took second on Charlie Blackmon's single. Then things got strange.

DJ LeMahieu lined to the right-field corner, well past reaching Reds outfielder Jay Bruce.
