We all knew Brenton Doyle was on fire in July, and today MLB agreed, recognizing him as the NL Player of the Month.
His accomplishments are significant.
Over 24 games in July, the Colorado Rockies center fielder slashed .333/.394/.800 — including seven doubles, one triple, 11 home runs and 27 RBI. His 19 extra-base hits led MLB while his 11 home runs tied with Oakland’s Brent Rooker. In addition, Doyle’s 72 total bases led the National League.
He also ranked second in slugging and OPS (1.194).
Don’t forget his torrid start to July that resulted in NL Player of the Week honors back on July 8.
