Bill Schmidt, the Rockies’ longtime vice president of scouting, is currently the interim general manager. He replaced Jeff Bridich, who resigned in late April. Schmidt, 61, wants to be the permanent GM when the Rockies make that decision afterthe current season.
Following is a Q&A with Schmidt.
The Denver Post: The Rockies have one of the smallest analytics departments in the majors and several staffers have left over the past year. We know the Rockies are a draft-and-development organization, but would you beef up the analytics department going forward?
