Bettis' rehab to continue with sim outing

WASHINGTON -- Chad Bettis will take another step toward returning to the Rockies on Tuesday, when he throws three innings in a simulated outing with Double-A New Britain, manager Walt Weiss announced on Friday.

After that, the plan for Bettis, who has been out since July 18 with right elbow inflammation, is to throw 60-65 pitches in a rehab start the following Saturday.

"It's probably the best-case scenario, to be honest with you," Weiss said. "I was concerned when he went down, you always are when a pitcher has elbow inflammation. The way things have been going, I was kind of preparing for the worst.
