DENVER -- Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado passed concussion tests after hitting his forehead on the infield dirt while making a diving attempt during the ninth inning of Tuesday night's 6-3 loss to the Pirates at Coors Field.
Arenado, a candidate for the Esurance The Best Everyday Player, Defensive Player and Breakout Player awards as well as a candidate for the National League Most Valuable Player Award, was shaken up diving for Jordy Mercer's sharp one-hopper. He couldn't reel in the ball as it hit him in his left wrist, and he slammed into the ground hard.
