SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — It’s looking more and more likely that veteran right-hander Chad Bettis will be the Rockies’ No. 5 starter.
Not only has Bettis pitched well this spring, but young right-hander Antonio Senzatela is dealing with an infected blister on his right heel. Manager Bud Black said Friday that Senzatela “will be out a while.” That will make it difficult for Senzatela to build up enough innings to be a starter before the regular season open at Miami on March 28.
Plus, Bettis, 29, has a solid pedigree. He started last season strong, going 4-1 with a 3.
