Aaron Cook was lost.
It turned out that all he needed was a horse and the love of a good woman to rediscover himself.
“Funny how things work out in life, right?” said Cook, the former Rockies right-hander who pitched in 256 major-league games, started Game 4 of the 2007 World Series and pitched three scoreless innings in the 2008 All-Star Game at the original Yankee Stadium.
Most mornings, the 40-year-old Cook gets up at 4:30 a.m. at his 147-acre ranch in Alvarado, Texas. There is no time to pine for Glory Days because there are 31 horses to be tended to at the Rafter28 (28 was Cook’s number with the Rockies).
