The Colorado Rockies have been one of the worst teams in the league all season, but there is still plenty of intrigue surrounding them as they figure to be major sellers at the trade deadline. Here are three rumors you need to know:
Trade market diminishing for Troy Tulowitzki?
Colorado has been contemplating getting rid of Tulowitzki at the trade deadline, but according to CBS's Jon Heyman, "his value is down so far that a rival GM says he’s not sure another team would take on the rest of his contract — even before considering giving up pieces in return." Another general manager said that Tulowitzki hasn't shown the same “lower half explosiveness” he did before undergoing hip surgery last year, further making teams weary of acquiring him.
Carlos Gonzalez a trade chip for Colorado?
The Rockies' offseason was littered with trade rumors surrounding star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, but it's Tulo's middle-of-the-order counterpart who's currently the subject of speculation.
According to the Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo, outfielder Carlos Gonzalez is a name to watch as we get closer to the July 31st MLB trade deadline. He is batting .241 with 11 home runs and 30 RBI's through 77 games this season.
