The Colorado Rapids announced Friday they have acquired attacking midfielder Zach Pfeffer to complete a draft-day deal that sent the No. 2 overall pick to the Philadelphia Union.
The Union used the pick to select Joshua Yaro, viewed by many as the top defender in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. The Rapids also received an undisclosed amount of general allocation money in the deal.
Pfeffer, 21, comes to the Rapids with a good amount of professional experience for his age. He signed a homegrown player contract with the Union in 2010 at age 15, making him the fourth youngest player to sign with MLS.
