The Rapids?
They just look and feel a little different this year.
Their season opener dubbed, Snow Clasico 3, was the coldest game in MLS history. More importantly, the Rapids earned a last-second draw against a tough Portland Timbers squad. Given this is a team that lost 19 times last year with an average of 1.1 goals per match, beginning 2019 with a tie is about as good of a start as Colorado could have asked for.
In a sign of changing times, the Rapids tallied three goals, even while shorthanded most of the game.
“We were really pleased with the performance,” coach Anthony Hudson said at Friday’s practice.
