To call William Yarbrough’s Major League Soccer debut a test would be putting it mildly.
Making his first start for the Rapids on Friday night in the MLS is Back Tournament in Orlando, the 31-year-old goalkeeper was peppered by 19 shots in a 3-2 loss to Sporting Kansas City.
Yarbrough made five stops to help keep the Rapids level until Graham Zusi’ winner in stoppage time. He faced a penalty and was later forced to stand tall after Colorado went down two men for 30 minutes due to a pair of red cards.
