COMMERCE CITY — The Rapids have a new problem and it was brutally exposed on Saturday night. In the meleed mess that was a 4-1 loss to the Houston Dynamo, right winger Alberth Elis tore up the Rapids. He would have had three assists and one goal had Colorado not netted two against itself.
Elis exposed a long fear for this year’s club, a backline that could be lit up. Already through five games, the Rapids are second-worst in Major League Soccer in goals against, having allowed 12.
The part of the defense that was particularly bad in this loss was different than past goals.
