SEATTLE — Colorado Rapids leading goal scorer Shkëlzen Gashi traveled with the club to Seattle and is likely to play in the opening leg of the Western Conference championship Tuesday night.
Gashi, 28, suffered a severely sprained ankle 16 days ago in the decisive game of the Western Conference semifinals against the Los Angeles Galaxy and had to be subbed off at halftime.
The Albanian international was said to be doubtful to play in the opening leg earlier this week, but trained with the Rapids on Monday in Seattle on artificial turf.
Gashi led the Rapids with nine goals during the regular season and scored their lone goal during the playoffs — a wonder goal from about 40 yards out.
