When Steven Goff tweeted that the Colorado Rapids were “close to reaching a deal” to get Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Joe Mason on loan, I was intrigued. He was teammates with Jack Price, and he’s 26. Great!
Then I saw that he has had 42 goals since 2009 and hoped that maybe he just got to a slow start in the Championship. But according to his Wikipedia page, it’s not great:
Yes, that’s 7 goals in his last 39 games. According to Transfermarkt, Mason is worth more than $3.1 million.
It sounds like the striker wasn’t getting it done with the Wolves, so he was loaned to Burton Albion in August 2017 (the loan ended in January).
