Colorado Rapids extended their unbeaten streak to fourteen in league play and completed a season sweep of Sporting Kansas City after a 1-0 win on Saturday night.
Substitute Marlon Hairston scored in the 78th minute with a beautiful curling effort that just avoided the outstretched hand of Tim Melia. This was Hairston’s first goal since 2013 and his 10th appearance for the club this season.
The Rapids missed a few opportunities after the goal and were lucky to not have given up a late penalty, but ultimately, they got the three points and extended the home streak.
