The 1997 season was memorable for Gallery of Honor inductee, Chris Henderson. He led the team in the regular season with 27 points, from seven goals and 13 assists. But it was one of his two goals scored during the MLS Playoffs which stands out as Henderson's 'Best #RapidsMoment'.
With three minutes remaining in the Western Conference championship game, the Rapids held a 2-1 aggregate lead. Weary limbs meant a mistake could prove costly. A decisive strike was needed. Up step Henderson with a bicycle kick, from a cross by Adrian Paz.
That effort gave the Rapids a comfortable two-goal cushion, and a place in the 1997 MLS Cup final 11 days later.
