COMMERCE CITY — The Rapids are a week into a hiatus of 17 days between games, but there was injury news Tuesday as talented winger Shkelzen Gashi was scheduled for an MRI following a flare-up of his Achilles tendon injury.
Gashi, who dropped out of practice on Monday, has been troubled by the problem on and off since preseason and was an unused substitute in the team’s last game, a 3-1 loss to Seattle on July 4. When healthy, he has been a dynamic and exciting player since signing with the Rapids as a high-priced designated player last season, but he has started only seven of 18 games this season.
