Rapids trade Benny Feilhaber to Sporting KC in exchange for Abdul Rwatubyaye

The Colorado Rapids continued their activity on the market Wednesday, making their third transaction of the past 24 hours. In the first trade that has included jettisoning a player from their roster, veteran midfielder Benny Feilhaber was sent back to Sporting KC, where he previously spent five years.

In exchange for Feilhaber, the Rapids received center back Abdul Rwatubyaye and a draft pick.

Rwatubyaye (6-foot-1, 175-pounds) is native of Rwanda who has appeared for their national team 23 times including in the FIFA World Cup. The 22-year-old was signed by Sporting KC in February to a one-year deal his contract includes options for 2020, 2021 and 2022.
