The Colorado Rapids will loan midfielder Emmanuel Appiah and striker Caleb Calvert to Charlotte Independence of the USL.
Rapids coach Pablo Mastroeni confirmed Tuesday morning that the two players were headed to the Rapids’ USL affiliate.
Appiah, 22, was the Rapids first-round selection (No. 15 overall) in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. Calvert, 19, was acquired from Chivas USA in the dispersal draft, after the club was dissolved at the end of 2014.
The Independence play UNC Charlotte on March 19 in a preseason friendly. They will face Louisville City FC on March 26.
