For a third year in a row the Colorado Rapids could host their USL neighbors Colorado Springs Switchbacks in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round, after the draw was made in Chicago on Thursday.
The Switchbacks won their second round encounter 2-0 over PDL team FC Tucson on Wednesday, and next take on Oklahoma City Energy in round three for the right to meet the Rapids. OKC Energy were comfortable 5-1 winners over USASA Region IV champions Moreno Valley FC, of southern California.
While the Switchbacks sit fourth in the USL’s Western Conference on 13 points (3-3-4) - albeit 10 points behind leaders San Antonio FC - OKC lie next-to-bottom with a 1-4-1 record.
