What a night for the Colorado Rapids. Just as many fans were starting to lose hope, the Burgundy Boys roll into Rio Tinto and absolutely destroy Real Salt Lake—in front of a home crowd, too. Not only was it the first win for Rapids EVER in Sandy, but the RMC is coming back to Colorado for the first time since 2015. Even then it was on goal differential, so technically it’s the first outright win since 2013 and fifth ever RMC win for the Rapids in the cup’s 15-year history.
Here’s all you need to know about the first half: The Rapids had six shots, five on target (to RSL’s seven shots, zero on target) and Diego Rubio got a brace in 10 minutes.
