COMMERCE CITY — It’s not far-fetched to say that Andre Shinyashiki wouldn’t be a Colorado Rapid without Conor Casey. When Casey saw Shinyashiki at a college camp years ago, Casey saw the same natural offensive ability in Shinyashiki that he once possessed.
This made Casey the leader in the camp wanting to trade up in the MLS SuperDraft so that the club could keep the area college product in Denver. Little did Casey know at the time that Shinyashiki would make him look like a genius.
Casey, Colorado’s interim head coach, has had one of the better offenses in the league since taking the helm six games ago.
