The Colorado Rapids announced today the signing of Trinidadian defender Mekeil Williams. Williams is 25 years old and played last season for Antigua in the Guatemalan first division. The Denver Post reported that he scored one goal in 20 matches for Antigua.
Williams has been the regular starting left back for the Trinidad and Tobago National team since 2012. He started in all of the teams matches in the CONCACAF Gold Cup last summer, where he completed 70 of 87 passes for an 80% completion rate.
Terms of the deal (salary and transfer fees) were not disclosed, per MLS policy.
