Rapids see team-building potential in trip to Chicago, Philadelphia this week

COMMERCE CITY — Coming off their first victory in 10 weeks, the Rapids face a daunting challenge with a pair of road games in a run of three games in eight days.

First up is a match Wednesday at Chicago, which is undefeated at home with four wins and a draw. Forward Nemanja Nikolic, a Hungarian international, has as many goals (eight) as the Rapids have scored as a team. Midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, a designated player signing this season, has been a mainstay of the German national team which won the 2014 World Cup. The Fire beat 2016 MLS Cup winner Seattle 4-1 last week.
