Rapids president Tim Hinchey is leaving that position to become president and chief executive of USA Swimming.
Hinchey, who was named MLS executive of the year in 2016, has 20 years of experience in professional sports, including positions in the NBA, English Premier League and NHL, but he also is an avid masters swimmer. He also swam in college for the University of California-Irvine.
“Leading USA Swimming is a dream job for me,” Hinchey said in a statement issued by USA Swimming. “Being involved in the sport of swimming has played a major part in shaping who I am as a person and as a professional, and I can’t wait to give back to our membership.
