The annual MLS Superdraft was be held Tuesday, where clubs selected the nation’s top collegiate players and the Rapids were busy adding assets.
Coming into the day, the Rapids had five picks with the highest being at No. 10 overall. Before selecting, Colorado sent the pick to Nashville SC for a sizable return of $125,000 of General Allocation. The deal goes up another $50,000 of GAM if certain parameters were met and the Tennessee side sent the 26th pick alongside the Monopoly money.
The picks were now No 23, 26, 45, 51 and 79.
The Rapids high selection was Notre Dame senior and co-captain Mohammed Omar, a midfielder who has recorded 68 appearances for the Irish.
