When all the roster changes went down at the end of the year, the Denver Post reported that Mike da Fonte was going to be on loan for the 2018 season. Over the weekend, the Colorado Rapids finally announced that da Fonte has been loaned to the USL’s Phoenix Rising FC.
The 26-year-old defender was signed to a two-year contract when he joined the Rapids in 2017 from Sacramento Republic FC, and he earned 14 starts in 17 games last season. In those 14 games, he earned five yellow cards.
