Rapids homegrown center back Kortne Ford has been suspended one game for a hard foul in Sunday’s match against Minnesota United.
On the play, Ford challenged for a header in the 9th minute and appeared to elbow Loons’ striker Christian Ramirez in the back of the head. Ford was called for a foul on the play, but was not issued a card by the referee.
Upon review, the MLS disciplinary committee hit Ford with a one-match ban and an undisclosed fine for “serious foul play that endangered the safety of an opponent.”
Ford will be suspended Saturday against Orlando City SC, leaving the Rapids with Jared Watts (returning from a one-match red card ban) and Bobby Burling as their primary options at central defense.
