COMMERCE CITY — It took five years for a Colorado Rapids player to reach 10 goals in a season. Then it took Kei Kamara one half to race right past it.
Why the half-decade wait?
“I wasn’t here,” Kamara said with a grin.
As brash as that might sound, the 34-year-old striker certainly comes by his bravado honestly.
After netting a hat trick Saturday night against Montreal, Kamara not only became Colorado’s first single-season double-digit scorer since Deshorn Brown (10 goals) in 2014, but also the club’s first 11-goal scorer since it won the MLS Cup in 2010.
